    Who carries my luggage?
On all tours, whether guided or self-guided, your luggage is transferred to your following night's accommodation. Luggage transfer is mostly carried out by Fiore Tours, by  sometimes we use also the accommodation provider or a local taxi service. Bags should be ready for collection by 09:30am and will be at your next overnight stop by 3pm.

What equipment/clothing do I need to bring with me?
You will need good walking shoes or boots, comfortable walking clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers, a daypack, and hats, walking poles etc

Can I organize a trip with just my friends or family?
Yes, just let us know your chosen trip and we can organize a private departure. Prices may vary from those given on the website, depending on the size of the group and date of departure.

What is the accommodation going to be like?
Accommodation is clean and simple. You'll mainly stay in small, locally-run, 2-3 star hotels and guesthouses, which reflect the character of the area.

    What is the food like?
Breakfasts are generally buffets that take your active program into consideration with a variety of low-fat and high-nutrition choices. Lunch is generally on your own, although some groups tours decide to pool funds on some days and enjoy picnics en route. Dinners are usually included with guided tours, and dinner packages ("half pension") are a frequent option with self-guided tours. Expect either a fixed menu or a few choices. If you have any allergies, restrictions or strong preferences, please let us know as far in advance as possible.

How far in advance do I need to book?
We suggest you book as soon as your plans are finalised as Istria is extremely popular over the summer months.

When is the best time of year?
Traditionally April/May/June and September/October have always been the most popular time of year because the weather is better. July and August is better to avoid as it can be too hot for walking.

You receive tour documents, including your hotel list and information on how to get to your starting town and hotel, tour operator contacts, packing tips, and other helpful information, about 2-3 weeks before your tour. You get packets with maps, route instructions, and sightseeing information at your start hotel.

“12-day Coast to Coast Walking Tour Across Istria”

Our group of 9 retirees has done England's Coast to Coast and Offa's Dyke paths. We decided to try someplace different this year and happened on Fiore's walking tours of Istria. Dalibor Rudan (a traveler's gem if ever there was one) patiently listened to all our wants and answered all our questions, responding with amazing speed each time. He then organized a custom self-guided walking trip for us across the Istrian peninsula ("coast to coast"). Our experience with Fiore echoes those of the other reviewers (great accommodations; good walking advice, maps and instructions; and truly attentive follow-up each step of the way). We were met several times en route by Dalibor or Ilija (another gem). Fiore also organized for us a week-long (post-walk) sightseeing tour of the Dalmatian coast, equally splendid. We can't recommend them too highly.

“Outstanding support before and during our tours!”

We relied on Fiore Tours to design a custom self-guided walk across Istria. Dalibor Rudan was so responsive to our whims and needs that also had him arrange a trip down the Dalmatian Coast. Everything Dalibor planned for us was wonderful. The inns were charming and comfortable, the drivers and tour guides were prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The personal attention we received from Fiore Tours far exceeded what we have received from larger travel companies.

We have been on a lot of self guided walking tours and Fiore ranks amongst the best. We were on a five day walking tour with Fiore who are a local company. There was great support, good accommodation and excellent information about the routes. Istria is very, very nice with beautiful hill towns, friendly people and excellent food. All the Fiore staff were very helpful, really knew their country and were flexible in changing plans where necessary. Go and enjoy!

We did the 5 day walking tour and the only disappointment was some heavy rain on one day which in spite of umbrellas and wet weather gear we were soaked and very muddy.
Having said that this is the first time we have been met on a daily basis by the walking company and Illija couldn't do more to help. He explained where we might get caught on the directions and offered alternatives if we needed them.
The towns of Motovun, Buzet, and Hum were delightful hilltop towns each with their own character. finishing at Lovran was superb with the promenade walk the next day a must.
Accommodation at each stopover was excellent however La Paranzana was a cut above the rest.
The most spectacular walk was the last up to Mt Vojak, a bit cloudy but worth the climb.
The walk down was tough and 2 days later we are still a bit sore, so make sure you are reasonably fit for this walk, or ask Illija for an alternative.
